The Chess world was stunned today when it was announced for the first time ever that a Grandmaster has been accused of using performance enhancing drugs. 32 year old Romanian sensation Gregor "King me" Krasgorov was formally charged with the before unheard of allegation in the International Chess Federation. One fan, Norman "Castle Time" Jergon, had this to say, "I was blown away. All this time I thought it was all done by skill and mental ability. Now this? What's next, doping scandals in checkers?" One expert, Timothy "No Nickname" Turner of the Chess Expert Institute in Helsinki, Wisconsin shed even further light into this tragedy. "It was bound to happen sooner or later. Chess players play by the clock, and the faster you are the more time you have. The more time you have, the more options are available to you. It's a tough sport, and some people will do anything to be the best." And what about Grandmaster Krasgorov? "Well, there are no formal charges being filed at this time as there are no rules yet to make this a violation. But we're working on it," reports Robert "Nerd Alert" Grendel of the Internation Chess Committee. "Castle Time" thinks it may already be too late. "This could be a devastating blow to the sport in which it may never recover. Honestly I could just see it now. Everytime a Grandmaster makes a bold move and ends the game in some genius play, everyone is going to wonder what drugs he's using." Krasgorov had this to say, "e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6. d4 Bg4? dxe5 Bxf3. Qxf3 dxe5 6. Bc4 Nf6 7. Qb3 Qe7 8. Nc3 c6 9. Bg5 b5? 10. Nxb5! cxb5 11. Bxb5+ Nbd7 12. 0-0-0 Rd8 Rxd7 Rxd7 14. Rd1 Qe6 Bxd7+ Nxd7 Qb8+! Nxb8 17. Rd8#" "That magnificent bastard!" shouted Turner. "He's using the famous Opera game from 1858 for his defense! He must be using anabolic steroids."
